The Journal of Housing and Community Development is the only periodical devoted exclusively to the affordable housing and community development (HCD) field. It features articles on all aspects of the industry, including legislation and advocacy, finance, international HCD initiatives, green building, maintenance and administration, as well as semi-regular columns from leaders in the field. It is published by the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO).
The first print issue of what was then the Journal of Housing was published in October 1944. After more than 60 years, we are proud to transition this venerable publication online.
While many of the Journal's articles are free for all to view, a few are restricted to subscribers, as are the archives. Full access to all articles and archives is available via subscription.
Practitioners, academics, businesspeople and others whose interests align with affordable housing and community development issues are encouraged to submit article proposals, draft articles and/or op-ed pieces for consideration.

Shorter pieces such as press releases and case studies for the News Briefs section are also welcome.

Each year, we publish one print issue of the Journal that includes our Buyer's Guide, a list of companies that serve the affordable housing and community development industry. Here is the 2020 issue.
